Now, you may have heard someone say, “I am just a simple person.” That is a different meaning. You can be a simple person, meaning that you are easy going, your life flows smoothly or things are not too complicated. But this is different. The Bible’s definition of a simple spirit is not flattering at all, and there are actually many verses that expose it. So, lets begin with a definition of what simple means from the Bible, and then we will look at how to recognize this spirit at work.

Proverbs 1:4 “To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.”

A person with a simple spirit will lack discretion. That is to have no rule over yourself, no purpose in life. The simple spirit will block you from being able to have discernment or to discern the things that are going on in your life or the things that you are around. It also ties in with perception and understanding.
