Series 33 The Calling of the Elect
■ The Calling of the Elect 3 Messages
1 Peter 1:1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, 2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
Jacob's life gives clues to the doctrine of Election. It is a sovereign call. Paul uses the life of Jacob to illustrate this great truth. For Example: ~ An Elect is chosen before birth. That is they are not yet born when God fixes their destiny
~ An Elect’s life goes through the process of transformation
~ The Elect is often put into the fiery furnace to be refined
Jacob the man became Israel the Prince. This was accomplished over the span of his entire life. Jacob, even though he was chosen, called, and elected, was one day paid a visit by God. As he wrestled with the angel of God he underwent a transformation of his life. The New Testament Elect, also undergoes a transformation. This process is accomplished as we undergo deliverance, and our character is changed into the image of Jesus Christ our Lord.
This series will bring the listener peace, assurance, and understanding when the trials of life seem overwhelming. As God has a purpose in them. The Elect can have assurance of faith knowing that:
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
